A brown fabric hardcover book with the title debossed in white down the spine. There is a light yellow headband, and the front and back free and pasted end pages are a heavy, textured, black paper. There is a pictorially illustrated dust jacket under a mylar covering. Pages: (6), 7-159, (1). 158 illustrations with 71 in color. Since the discovery of Coptic textile in the course of late 19th and early 20th century excavations in Egypt, they have found their way into major museums throughout the world. They represent skilled craftsmanship, highly developed weaving techniques and artistry in pattern as well as colour, and have been an inspiration to many artists, including Rodin and Matisse who were both collectors.
