They are all devoted to the descrip tion and explanation of points in the mechanism of parturition. A few of them have already appeared in a collected form in the Author's work entitled, Researches in Obstetrics; and their reappearance here is called for by two considerations, namely, - the desire of the Author to have his writings on mechanism in one volume, and his desire to have further diffusion of the reprinted papers than is obtain able by their forming part of the Researches, a volume which will probably soon be out of print.
