Because of the pancreatic lesions found in these 6 cases of coincident syphilis and diabetes, the pancreas in each of the remaining 39 cases of latent syphilis was then more thor oughly studied, and it was found that this organ was not normal in any one of the old cases of syphilis, but that it presented a more or less severe pancreatitis.
