It is hard to imagine how so many men in the late 1930s were motivated by their Communist indoctrination to go to Spain and fight on the Loyalist side. This author, as a young Jewish labor agitator, did that. There is no romance about his action. He is no Robert Jordan of "For Whom the Bell Tolls". His is a rather uninteresting story about a very interesting subject. He was a dedicated Communist revolutionary. If he is still alive, I'm certain that he voted for Obama, holds George Bush responsible for 9/11, and believes in "global warming". His loyalty to communism is of the type that betrayed France in 1940 (when Hitler and Stalin were allies). I just don't understand those kind of people. I wouldn't waste your time reading this book. I have already discarded it.
