This is the first truly book for the Financial Mathematics module of most actuarial studies. I think that 'An Introduction to the Mathematics of Finance' by McCutchean and Scott is a much better book for personal study. The latter is a further development of the book being reviewed. However with 'Compound Interest and Annuities Certain' being out of print, I suggest any book fanatic to grab this one. I certainly gave some chapters a good read.
