A bomb exploded in the theatre at the beginning of the show, and Caruso ran out, dressed as Radames, and disappeared in the streets of Havana. The tenor emerged from the shadows a few days later, but nobody knew where and with whom he had been, except for Aida Petrinera Cheng.
