If the world were a fair place, these cuts, and the two from single number one -- "The Harder They Come" and "Rudi, A Message To You" would have been part of a live album, or tacked on to Streetcore. But they're not. Joe Strummer fans should have these cuts. They aren't simply filler; the performances of both cuts are inspired and intense. "Yalla Yalla," with its borrowed "Baba O'Reilly" Mellotron lines and dubbed-out bass, is actually deeply moving. The Ramones cover is pure crash and burn punk; there is no camp in Strummer's voice as he spits these words out with delight, piss and vinegar. While it's impossible to hear Streetcore and these tracks without sentiment; it ultimately makes no difference how damn sad it all is: this was a guy who was far from washed out.
