This is an account of the life of Rosemary Marion Sutherland from her earliest recollections, to young adulthood and a little beyond. It contains many old photographs of our extended family in Teesdale, Redcar, and Edinburgh, and memories of holidays in those places. It covers her early experiences of school, what she recalled, as a child, of the Depression Years, and of her various jobs in York after that time. It was in one of those jobs that she met her future husband, Gerald Cooper. She now lives in New Zealand with most of her children, though others are in Australia. During the war years, her older sister, Mavis served in ENSA. Mavis was torpedoed once, and was in battle once. There is a chapter of photos of Mavis from that time. Marion's evacuation to Canada, along with many other children at that time, was put off when her mother became pregnant with her brother, John. Just as well, as one of the ships carrying children was torpedoed, with large loss of life.
