None. Good. A scarce first edition of this entertaining hunting poem, an interesting association copy, belonging to the author's grandson. The first edition of this work. Pencil inscription to the front pastedown, 'Written by my mother's father, Robert Roscoe, the property of my mother, F.W. D'. F.W.D. here is Frederick Warburton Dunston, who was the son of Roscoe's daughter Emma Jane. In 1906 Dunston privately published 'Roscoeana'. A letter loosely inserted, written by Ch. H. Clough to Richard Hatchwell, bookseller. Clough's letter details the background of this copy, and its association with the author. The letter is dated 3rd November 2003. A receipt from Richard Hatchwell & Co, dated 11th October 2003, is loosely inserted. Half-title is present. 'Chevy Chase' is a charming poem, an adaptation of a traditional English hunting ballad. Written by Robert Roscoe. In paper covered boards, with original boards and a rebacked spine. Externally, generally smart. Some rubbing to the boards and spine. Some loss to the head and tail of the spine. Light cracks to the spine. Prior owner's pencil inscription to the front pastedown. Bound without endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the occasional mark and spot. Good.
