This book should be on every family's bookshelf. It has been on ours since I was a teenager, and that is many years ago. I have bought it again several times, to share with others. Not only does it give a loving and humorous glimpse into a bygone age, much like Clarence Day's "Life With Father", but it also gives a fascinating account of the life of a pioneer in the field of industrial efficiency, and we learn a little of how his mind approached problems of daily living. We also learn a lot about his wife, the mother of twelve very individual and somewhat rambunctious children. One should turn off the TV and read it aloud, a chapter at a time, to the whole family.
