Original cloth-backed decorated boards, paper label on spine. A very fine, as new copy. History of The Catnach Press which was the imprint, for nearly a century, on flimsy penny broadsheets sold in the streets of London. The illustrations include facsimiles of 5 broadsheets. The essay by Percy Muir, the well-known English bibliophile, on 'Jemmy' Catnach and his penny broadsides is entertaining and instructive. [Magee, The Hundredth Book: 89].
