A dazzling photographic journey, Casa Yucatan focuses on architectural elements, water spaces, and open-air living in houses both colonial and contemporary, including haciendas and coastal retreats. The Yucatan has undergone a remarkable restoration renaissance of late: ancient pyramids now share the dense jungle jandscape with revived haciendas, and colonial homes boasting high-beamed ceilings and cool tile floors posture amidst elegant plazas and renovated nineteenth-century mansions. Based in Austin, Texas, Witynski and Carr are the owners of Texture Antiques, a gallery specializing in Mexican furniture, architectural elements, contemporary art, and accents. Individually, Witynski writes on home and garden design for national publications, including This Old House magazine, and Carr designs furniture from recycled Mexican wood. Together, they divide their time between their Austin, Texas home and the Yucatan Hacienda. "Find inspiration in this beautifully photographed book" Timber Homes Illustrated "Capture(s) the richness of the architecture and prompt(s) daydreams of languid afternoons on hammock-lined portales" Phoenix Home & Garden "The First Lady later wrote Carr and Witynski commenting that their books are "wonderful additions to our ranch library." Houston Chronicle "It will certainly fuel daydreams with it's images of restored courtyards, stenciled walls, tiled floor, carved wooden shutters and shaded hammocks" Los Angeles Times "Captures the essence of an aesthetic particular to the Mexican penninsula" House Beautiful
