This is one af a series by Maud Hart Lovelace, and it goes into more of a previously minor character's actions in the early 1900s. Instead of just Betsy-Tacy, this developes more of the village life and what other people were doing.

I've read this book twice and enjoyed it greatly both times. It is a "parallel" book to the Betsy-Tacy series by the same author and fills in a few gaps from those stories. I have enjoyed these books for a number of years and read them aloud to my reading classes; the girls in my classes enjoyed them tremendously. This book (as well as all the others Maud Hart Lovelace wrote) is a great story of life in a gentler, more peaceful, less-harried time!
