In November 1985, the magic of Calvin and Hobbes first appeared on the funny pages, introducing the world to a wondrous pair of friends. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of this distinguished partnership between a six-year-old boy and his (sometimes) stuffed tiger, Watterson has prepared a special book, which shares his thoughts on cartooning and is illustrated throughout with black-and-white and color cartoons.

can't go wrong!
Really, you can't go wrong with Calvin and hobbes! My kids are just thrilled that I bought 7 different books so everyone can look at them at the same time. Yes, I know I put this review on the other books too, but it's true.

Inside the Head of Calvin
I love Calvin and Hobbes. I have read nearly every publication containing their cartoons. I find the humor to be more real to life than other forms of entertainment. Many of their antidotes strike home, having raised three sons myself. But this book, in particular, was a favorite because the nature of the writer is revealed. He tells more about why the story lines go the way they do, what is up the the characters. I feel like I get the inside jokes for a change. I learned to more appreciate the passion the writer has for his work and the integrity he is trying to maintain. It almost seems like an oxymoron that these characters are trying to maintain the innocence (a word rarely used to describe Calvin) of youth while struggling with the realism in the big bad world of publishing for profit. Although I'm aware that comic strips are not necessarily viewed as works of fine literature, it's in MY top ten!
