Dr. Martin Gwent Lewis was born in a small town in South Wales but educated in England. He lived at the Medical Missionaries Association while attending medical school in London. Martin graduated from the St. Bartholomew s Hospital Medical School. In 1965, Dr. Lewis was appointed Lecturer in Geographical Pathology at the University of East Africa in Kampala, Uganda and worked there until 1968. On returning to London, he became a member of the Scientific Staff of the Chester Beatty Cancer Research Institute as well as Senior Lecturer in Pathology at Westminster Medical School. In 1971, Martin moved to Newfoundland, Canada as Foundation Professor of Pathology, and then to Montreal as Director of Cancer Research and Professor of Pathology at McGill University. He served as Consultant and Lecturer in Skin Pathology for the Canadian Cancer Society. Dr. Lewis was a founder member for the European Society for Dermatological Research and Consultant for the World Health Organization. Dr. Martin G Lewis has served as Professor and Chairman of Pathology at Georgetown University Medical Center (Washington D.C.), and Loyola University School of Medicine (Chicago, Illinois). He has served as Chief of Pathology for numerous hospitals as well as Consultant in Pathology to various Veterans Administrations Hospitals and Children s Hospitals. Dr. Lewis is also a licensed and commissioned minister with the United Church of Christ and currently serves as Associate Pastor to his church in Seminole, Florida.
