This is a superlative account of World War Two as it was fought in the China-Burma-India Theater, written by a participant. It is the most unbiased, objectively written, well-balanced account of that portion of the war that I have found, thus far. Mr. Allen includes information from first-hand Japanese sources, as well as from British sources down to individual infantrymen. His attention to detail enhances a writing style that is very readable; highly informative without being tedious. If I were to find one criticism, it is that Mr. Allen's narrative concentrates on the British participation in the conflict; it is a bit light on the Chinese and American side.
