This was said to me when I first came to Harlem, and during the two years that I photographed the people of East 100th Street, it stayed with me". Bruce Davidson's first book "East 100th Street" which surveys the harrowing state of life in Harlem in the late sixties is one of the classic volumes of Post-War American photography. This elegantly produced hardbound catalogue was issued in conjunction with a 1999 Koln gallery exhibition of twenty-eight of Davidson's arresting "East 100th Street" images.
