Seller's Description:
Fine in very good jacket. First edition/ printing (no statement as is correct for this publisher). Fine in bright, crisp dust jacket with monor rubbing to the extremities. Hardcover. Introduction by Johnny Carson. 255 pp. with appendix of rosters 1960-1968, team records, player stats. profuesly illustrated with photos. The first book published about the team after their upset victory in Super Bowl III, the first by an AFL team. Lead by "Broadway Joe" Namath. The story begins with the establishment of the franchise in 1960 (the New York Titans), their purchase by Sonny Werblin, and the building of a franchise that signed Alabama quarterback Joe Namath (for the tehn unheard of sum of $400, 000), added such stars as Matt Snell and Don Maynard. Namath became a mod-era cultural icon in New York who made the now-legendary boast that he "guaranteed" a vitroy over the powerhouse Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. He and the Jets made good on the boast, winning the game 16-7.
