Seller's Description:
Very Good. 4to-over 9¾"-12" tall. Inscribed By the Author Minor edge and corner wear; lightly scuffed and scratched; spine is gently creased; some light shelf wear; overall a very crisp and clean signed first edition! Inscribed and dated by the author on the title page! Black and white illustrated wrapper with black lettering! 419 very clean unmarked and uncreased historical pages nicely enhanced by black and white illustrations and photographs! "When she was ten years old and the rent was due, her father shouldered a hobo-style bedroll, her mother stuffed a satchel with necessaries and they left their Los Angeles home. This was the Great Depression, and for five years the three walked and hitchhiked from boxcar to hobo jungle to the shelfter of trees and shacks. Through the San joaquin and San Fernando valleys of California they went, and on into its deserts and canyons. This remarkable girl was Britomar Johnson, now a distinguished retired psychologist. She kept a diary on blue composition tablets, on a packet of invoices rescued from a trash pile, and in a 'book' made from fund brown paper. These writings from age thirteen to fifteen (when she left her parents) survived and form the core of this book."
