Bring on the Dancing Horses certainly has all of Echo & the Bunnymen's tricks on it, especially some they'd honed of late, from "Never Stop" to "Seven Seas." The other one noticed is "Over the Wall," for the copy of the hi-hat rolls by remarkable drummer Pete de Freitas. The whole song reminds you of that previous classic, only more in the service of a (good) radio-pop song. It's a classic, and the 12" is an even better version. Also, it comes with a sweet, swaying, luscious dribble called "Bedbugs and Ballyhoo," which sounds like an alcoholic poet who's smitten with beautiful words he must repeat. An excellent return, and great use of strings this time, and the usual, luscious, pouting Ian McCulloch lead vocal.
