Breath of an Angel by Karyn Henley is the first in what is to be a magnificent 3 part book series.
Breath of angel, blood of man?
So begins the story of Melaia, a young priestess who witnesses the gruesome murder of a stranger inside the temple courtyard. She then discovers that the stranger had wings. After this discovery, Melaia is then thrown into a feud between two immortal brothers whom destroyed the stairway to heaven and a world of angels hidden among her own.
I read this book in less than a day which is astounding! I couldn't put it down and when I absolutely had to- I rushed back to it as quickly as I could. Unlike most young adult fantasy novels published recently this book was very different from your atypical urban fantasy set in medieval culture. Nope, not this one. This book was very high fantasy with every page brimming and spilling over adventure onto the next. Karyn Henley penned a potential winner with this one. The cover of the book is gorgeous, the description of the temple, angels and ranks, and the priestesses who live there was very detailed, and furthermore this painted a very clear picture in my mind and read as if it could be the next big movie especially with Harry Potter drawing to an end, with adventure similar to the Lord of Rings or Narnia this book is sure to be read over and over again becoming a favorite series among children and adults alike.
