Maj. Donald Boyer commanded Task Force Boyer, the defensive force immediately east of St. Vith, Belgium, the most important crossroads and railhead that the Germans planned to capture early in their Ardennes Offensive in what we now know as the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. After holding without reinforcements for 5 days, the Germans attacked with massively superior forces on 22 Dec 1944, over-running the depleted defenses and capturing Maj. Boyer. After World War II, Boyer gathered notes on the action and prepared at least two drafts of a "Personal Narrative". This book contains those notes and the narrative, introducted, annotated and indexed by W. Wesley Johnston, Historian of the 7th Armored Division Association and founding President of the American World War II Association Historians Consortium.
