A series of three books by Joy Adamson tells the story of raising a lion cub and her sequent cubs in Africa. Anyone with an interest in big cats will love these books as I did when I read them in my teens. The books were followed by a movie with a beautiful musical theme. Unfortunately, Ms. Adamson was killed by a lion, but her legacy continues to this day. People like her and Jane Goodall who worked with animals have always interested me and attracted me to the Nature series on PBS. I admired her dedication and her life long work. There is a brand new biography out about Jane Goodall this year. A fellow stamp collector in Israel collects postage stamps featuring big cats and they have been featured in various circus acts as well.
