One might wonder how a novel about a supposed underwater monster could be any more than juvenile or simpleminded. But John Lutz combines effectively the elements of a mainstream novel with a southern accent with the attributes of a thriller. We are deeply involved with the main characters as the intensity slowly builds toward an effective climax.
