Blue Fingers by Cheryl Aylward Whitesel Blue Fingers is an excellent read. As an adult I give it my highest rating. As a teacher of 12 year old students, the students give their highest recommendation. The setting is feudal Japan, 1545. Koji, the main character is "doubly unlucky." Through his own misfortunes he is captured by a secret ninja clan and is trained in the ninja tradition. The characters are strongly developed and easy to relate to personally. The values are strong, and the conflict in values is clearly expressed. The adventure is fast paced and draws the reader along. Blue Fingers gives a look at a little known time period and culture. While it is very informative, the excitement and joy of the adventure makes the book wonderful for young adults and adults.
