"As Ye Sow, So Shall Ye Reap"
The term 'Blowback' was first used in the first World War, when the users of poison gases were not careful enough of the weather forecasts, and the gases they thought would be carried by the wind to their enemies 'blew back' on their own people. Written and published just before the 9-11 attack on the World Trade Center, this book does not specifically predict that very event, but does indeed predict that some such event was bound to happen, given the behavior of the U.S. government, running rough-shod over the rights of people all over the world in the creation and maintenance of its global empire. This book warns us that if Americans allow their leaders to continue to behave as they are behaving, we must expect 'the unforseen consequences', which is part of Johnson's definition of the term 'Blowback'. Another way to put it is that one day the schoolyard bully unexpectedly gets what's coming to him. The book has become a trilogy; anyone who hopes for peace and a decent future for the U.S. and indeed, all of humanity, would do well to read this book and the following two, "The Sorrows of Empire" and "Nemesis".
