The book certainly fulfilled the requirement I had to give a good amount of information and pictures of the BV 141 which are unavailable elsewhere ? and as such it is worth buying.
The book takes you through the sequence from initial conception to give some detail of fifteen aircraft out of the claimed production of twenty ? when further development was halted. The story is made more real by introducing the personalities involved in the aircraft's birth, life and death.
There is a lot of information and original drawings on aspects of the cockpit, structure, controls and armament ? and then there is the fiction: quite a few photographs of a recent model (of unknown accuracy) and eight full page spreads of an artist's impression of the BV141. I would rather the fiction had been left out.
A section on other BV proposals ? both symmetric and asymmetric ? made the book an interesting read.
A useful addition to my library, but in no sense is it the whole story of the BV 141; it should be read in conjunction with other texts.
