"Blogwild" by Andy Wibbels (rhymes with "nibbles") may remind you, on first gloss, of a child's reader - you know, the kind with 26 chapters, one for each letter of the alphabet. It's small, light, and has short chapters. Further, if you check out the author's photo on the back cover, you'll think it hard to believe that the young-looking (and young, frankly) Wibbels could be a "veteran" of anything, as the blurb assures you he is. But spend a while with this small (handy) volume, with short (economically-crafted) chapters, and you'll see that it does just what the author intends: it shows you how to easily get started with blogging by being itself an easy read. Like those good old Dr. Seuss books, it doesn't talk down to the reader, but makes the process of learning an enjoyable experience, in this case by using real-life examples, a sense of humor, and a friendly tone. Unlike those Golden Readers, however, this book can come across a little bland aesthetically, without a spot of color, a screenshot, or a chart anywhere to be found. These would have been appropriate, especially in the tutorial sections. Other technology "how-to" books typically include such aids as a matter of course, but at least here there is nothing for the text to hide behind.
