Very Good. Quarto, wraps 61 (4) pages, printed on rectos. Very good, light wear. Rare in commerce, 15 located in libraries. Published by the Black Action Society at the University of Pittsburgh, led by faculty members Daniel and Porter. As the Pittsburgh Courier reported, "In 1969, one year after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 's assassination, on his birthday, members of the University of Pittsburgh's Black Action Society peacefully occupied the campus computer center and demanded the university increase its enrollment of African Americans, give them housing, hire more Black teachers and staff, and build a Black studies curriculum. The university did all of that, and within five months, 50 economically-challenged Blacks became Pitt students." This curriculum proposal was the culmination of what Porter, Daniel and others envisioned as a proper academic treatment of Black Studies, to be implemented at any institution (neither Pitt nor any other institution is specifically named). The two authors are some of the founding fathers (and mothers) of Black Studies at Pitt.
