They are introduced to Mendelian genetics, the connection between cell division and cancer, evolution, the immune system, and infectious diseases. The final module is dedicated to biotechnology, providing students a glimpse into gene cloning, DNA sequencing, and gene editing. Biology provides students with an immersive and engaging introduction to biology and life science. It is well suited to flipped biology courses, particular those for non-science majors. Kevin M. Bonney is a clinical assistant professor and the assistant dean of faculty development and program advancement in Liberal Studies at New York University. He earned his doctoral degree in microbiology and immunology from Northwestern University. Dr. Bonney has authored and coauthored numerous articles and case studies within his field of expertise. Lori Nicholas is a biology instructor at Northwest Vista College, where she teaches lecture and lab courses. She previously served as a master teacher in the Liberal Studies at New York University, where she taught life science courses for non-majors and developed an online life science course.
