The shadow of a great rock in a weary land ashed across my mind and almost escaped my lips, but not quite; I was still shy of quoting the Bible before strangers, and some hotel acquaintances, a London doctor and his wife were with us - they rode up after us - and the doctor uttered those beautiful words of the Psalmist as he entered the Shadow of the rock.
