Presented in no particular order these social media posts present a retrospective of an aspect of the author's search for joy, while facing his own personal failings, and dealing with familial trauma. The posts themselves jump back and forth over a period of nearly fifteen years, skimming over a short and disastrous marriage, detailing familial disputes, friendships, deaths, and grief. Here and there, light shines in, as those important and powerful relationships make themselves clearly known, showing support, faith, value, and humour. These are true, unedited glimpses into the author's life, and with the exception of a few spelling corrections and asides (for sake of clarity), they depict a decade and a half of yearning for something more, and yet, finding solace in the connections which have proven of true value. It ought to be mentioned that, over the course of these years, the majority of the commentors and friends, no matter how intimate and solid they seemed at the time, have long since fallen away. Although these relationships are not developed or explored in any way, the fact that nearly ninety percent of those commenting are no longer a part of the author's life, shows the fragility of friendship and reveals how the meaning and purpose of personal connection has been lost in the digital age. The author does not recommend attempting to re-order the posts into a chronological order, as they seem to present a narrative in and of themselves, offering insights into the author's own personal reflections, and draws an intimate portrait of his emotions. Though much of his ideals have changed over time, they represent stages of emotional development, struggles with grief and heartache, as well as offering insights into what he has found to have true relevance over this period of time.
