The Proverbs 31 woman is an ideal woman that God has in mind for us, and this should be our goal as well. This paraphrase and Bible study gives us a picture of what a Proverbs 31 woman might look like today. As we can see, her employments are many. She buys real estate, she plants a garden, she is a sales person, she is a manufacturer, and she is a distributor. She is like Lydia in Acts 16:14, who was a seller of purple goods. Both of these women were godly women, who worked and helped make money to support their families. Some people believe these were home-based businesses, and I believe that is the ideal, as well. If we can stay at home with our families and work, then I believe we should, but if your employment takes you elsewhere (to the riverside or to the city) then we will do what's necessary for our family.
