the book held my attention. I loved the characters. They were realistic, passionate, and interesting. For me books should have a Romance/erotic rating so the reader knows if the book is what they want without buying something below the level of emotion they want,

Gytha & Thayer
A beautiful young woman reconciled to marry a Lord due to contracts written when she is a babe. The contract calls for her to marry an heir to a keep - but any heir - not a specific man. She does not mind having to marry William a man she is resigned to out of duty. The day before the wedding she is told he is dead, as is his second stand in and now she is due to marry the third heir. A man she cannot really stand much due to his weaknesses. On her way to the announcement she meets Thayer - not even knowing who he is, she is drawn to him by some instinct. He has no clue his cousin is dead and now he is the rightful heir. They both find out when he enters the hall to visit with his cousin (unknown to him as dead) and see the wedding. Immediately, he and she are betrothed. She is smitten and pleased, he is horrified. He feels she is too beautiful for him - even before he had become scarred in many battles he was not a handsome man and would never have sought such beauty in a bride. Nor, after hurts in past with love will his heart accept another will love him. Forced to wed, they set off on life. He keeping his heart safe and she trying to get him to break the barriers that will not allow her close to her love. In the midst of their own conflicts, of course there is much danger from the outside. The jilted cousin and the uncle have been deviously planning the deaths of William and Thayer for years to make Robert heir. Well, William shows alive and tosses another chink in the plans of Gytha in finding love with Thayer. Robert and the uncle will be undeterred in gaining the keep they seek and try to murder Thayer and harm Gytha also. It comes to a head when Gytha is kidnapped in order to sacrifice Thayer (they do not know William is alive) so that they can continue with thier plans. But, even then,another war wages when they get home. Read this good story to find out how the "beauty" tames the beast and how the last battle wages.

Love those scotts
Happy ever after with a tantilizing love story. She sees the softer side of him when noone else can. Highly recomend this for easy reading. I do not think Hannah Howell is able to write a bad story.
