With a change of lead vocalist (Danny Joe Brown replaced by Jimmy Farrar), Molly Hatchet seems to lose a bit of its fire, although "Beatin' the Odds" went on to make a favorable showing on classic rock radio. With only a couple of standout tracks, notably the title track and "Penthouse Pauper," the sound that the band had worked so hard to attain seems to have undergone more obvious changes than just the swapping of a lead singer.
