This is a very well written modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast from the perspective of a 16 year old boy turned into a beast living in New York. This story has several twists within it and the author does a great job keeping the reader interested. I loved this book and did not want to put it done until I was done!

Review of Beastly by Courtney on October 28, 2011
Alex Finn is an amazing writer; she grasps the attention of the reader in the first sentence. All of her novels are written for young adults and she loves writing about fairy tales that tie into Beastly. This story is mostly reflected around bullying and mystical creatures even though I do not believe in witches many people can relate to the story and the main focus of it.
The beginning of the book reminds people of the well-known story Beauty and the Beast. Looks aren?t always everything, the personality and the chance to show love to someone else who truly loves you back is what we call beautiful. Society can be hurtful in many ways; ?Adrian? and Linda got the worst of it and they managed to get through life and find out what really matters, the way you look on the inside.

Beauty and the Beast best remake!
Beastly...Beastly...Beastly Grrrrr.LOL.
i´m feeling very enthiast while writing the review for this book.
i read this book some time ago, i´m wondering why i haven´t wrote this review before, i sometimes add book i read and forget to write the review because i´m short of time, neverthless i´m writing it now.
I have to say i apreciate this book because i never was the disney happily ever-after-everything-haves-to-go-nicely kind of girl, not even as a little girl, but i always found myself being atract, pull to the beauty and the beast story, specifically the Jeanne-Marie Le Prince Beaumont version i just love the way she adpated this story, i always found myself as a little girl thinking about the beauty and the beast is i have to say one of the few and very possible that the disney-like story i truly enjoy.
That is why i choose to read this book, i decide to read it to my 8 years old sister, i really wanted her to read a beauty and the beast story. , but i have to admit i was intrigue about a new adaptation of the book.
I like the placement of the story it gives a great amount of reality to the story, i like the realistic way in wich the author express how social issies and aspects matter so much in our society.
and what i think i like the best is to experience the point of view of the beast; to see how the guy haves to live with the possibility to wake up everyday and found the beast he truly is in the other side of the mirror, how that makes him evolve and change so drastically from what he was.
with not making this review more large i just recommend this book to everyone who wants to remember those old stories you enjoy as a kid or for those who wants to experiment a new adaptation for a popular tale asbeauty and the beast is... even if i´m not a fan of this kind of ends, i did like it!!
Just in case your wondering, my little sister is super thrill about this book too.

Red in Tooth and Claw
Kyle Kingsbury believes being handsome and rich means he can get away with anything. He?s about to find out differently. He?s messed with the wrong girl.
This is the fairy tale of ?Beauty and the Beast? re-written for teens, using modern technology and themes. The story starts in media res, with the Beast joining a chatroom filled with online posters whose names and dilemmas recall various characters we remember from childhood. It is both funny and poignant to read their tales. We learn just how difficult life can be for a beast who has trouble hitting the right keys because of his claws.
?Beauty and the Beast? remains one of my favorite tales and this modern take does it justice, giving details of a life before and after transformation. They are so vivid it is as if the reader is there, undergoing Kyle?s trials and tribulations. We start by disliking this smug, self-absorbed teenager and end by feeling true compassion for his plight. The author has done a marvelous job here and this remains a choice read for me.
