The pages of this book started to fall out of the binding within a month's use. I have never seen such poor quality workmanship in a book. As far as the information goes, it was useful for my class, not difficult to read, I think it has good information, I just wish that it hadn't fallen apart, this will make it hard to keep on my bookshelf for referral.

A classic!
Brilliant book. I remember when I discovered it as a student and really revived my excitement for medicine at the time (which was threatened by all the non-clinical focus we were put through during that stage). Now I am excited to re-visit it as a tool to share with medical students I teach.
I suspect that any other decent book on the topic has probably by default copied from this one, in one way or another - there simply is not better compendium of practical and useful advice in one volume.
I purchased the 10th Edition, which is, I believe, probably just as good as the 11th or 12th Edition to be honest, but available for a fraction of the price.
The service of Alibris was simply fantastic, highly recommended, thank you.

Preparing for the Medical Office
I found this book helpful when I went to a new physician for an annual physical. The information is objective about each aspect of the body and shows you areas where there may be subjectivity. The information is simply one resource in understanding the complexities of good health and what might be preventable. I believe this book is for someone with a science background who is able to apply information to their benefit.
