Sir Brian manages, in this slim volume, to present the fundamental concepts of chemical thermodynamics in a concise manner that makes these complex ideas comprehensible to the undergraduate. As an aside, Sir Brian is an extremely nice man who almost didn't get the chance to write this book. when I was about 10 years old, he went for a short sail in my el toro with me in Tomales Bay and we were hit by a knockdown gust; breaking my tiller. It was at this point that I and my father found out that Sir Brian couldn't swim. All turned out happily; for our family and for Science.
