They work through a number of traditional pieces as well as several scattered original compositions and perform them with heartfelt grace and gleeful straightforwardness, never grandstanding or "overdoing" the Irishness. Dalglish's hammered dulcimer work is light and shimmering, retaining a strong rhythmic pulse without any machine-like qualities while Larsen, on a wide range of instruments, compliments his partner superbly and shines on some features for flute and tin whistle. Dalglish would go on to achieve some degree of notoriety in more new agey circles, but this early recording captures him before any treacle or gauziness had set in.
