By 1960, Les Brown's main focus was nostalgia, as is amply demonstrated by the dozen tracks on this LP, most of them associated with bands that had been popular two decades earlier, plus a handful of then-recent easy listening hits (most notably "So Rare," Jimmy Dorsey's deathbed chart-topper). Nothing here is terribly adventurous, but the playing by Brown's band is excellent, and within the confines of a return to big-band jazz, the members avail themselves some of the large-ensemble flashiness afforded by hi-fi and stereo ...
