In truth, they should be taken as companion pieces saluting the energetic drummer and his particular musical oeuvre. As far as sets go, the selections on Bambino are sharper, more polished, and contain more energy than the tracks on The Art Blakey Legacy. All of the soloing on both discs is stellar, but there is something more vibrant and awake about the playing on Bambino. The song selections flow better and reflect more of the mid-'60s style that Walton would have be familiar with during his time with Blakey.
