The music is played in a straightforward manner, note for note, with little in the way of embellishment except where notated, so Feng has adopted an approach that is not too far from most modern interpretations. Once the matter of style has been put to the side, Feng's reflective attitude and expressive phrasing with rubato come to the fore, giving the whole album the feeling of a private reverie rather than a public statement.
