Alas, his family could not take care of him and left him at a shelter for dogs. Eventually he was adopted by a couple named Alex and Monika, and moved to London. Babu had been scared and cold for so long in the shelter that all his ribs showed and his once bright bindi had faded. Over time, he began to recover with his new family and grew healthier, but where his forehead had proudly glowed red, he now had a big bald spot that never healed. He was self-conscious of his lack of hair and strangers would point at him and ask what happened? Eventually, Babu's new family moved to Wyoming, next to Yellowstone National Park. Babu made the long trip with them, and they built a small house on a pond, facing the mountains. Babu learned to run in deep snow behind Alex when he skied, swim in mountain lakes, and play with moose, elk and even a bear. Then, Monika and Alex had a baby named Ava and through his love for her, Babu finally healed and his hair grew back on his head. One day the family took Babu hiking in the Tetons and he disappeared for a long time. Babu had found a lake that reminded him of Wales, from so long ago. The sun was shining brightly on its surface, and Babu saw his reflection; his mouth dropped open in astonishment, for he could see a blazing red bindi back on his forehead. When Monika, Alex and baby Ava came to their glowing dog and put their arms around him, Babu realized that finally, he was home.
