My life has been a series of ups and downs in which I could recognize glimmers of silver lining, but nothing could have prepared me for the loss of my mother in the prime of her life. Yet even the painful physical loss has presented blessings and joy beyond what I ever could have imagined. That may sound foreign or strange to say the least, as we are all trained socially to think of them as gone. I would have thought it was strange too - before it happened to me. We have been, and continue to be blessed with so many signs and communication since the accident in 2013, that we started writing them down by the second day. As you can imagine, it is getting us through the most difficult time in our lives. She is still mothering us, with the same core personality traits that are very recognizable to us all. Her signs have been reported from close family and friends to people she had never met. Although I will mourn for the rest of my life, I see hope, love and joy in the beauty that surrounds Mom now. The messages that she conveys show us that she is AWAKE. And as I have come to know - much more awake than we are. "Awake" is more about life than death. It is meant to inspire and encourage others to see the much bigger picture in their daily lives. The proceeds of this book will benefit special-needs children.
