This is a wonderful book for beginning to learn the Italian language. The lessons are very well planned and easy to read. In order to hear the correct accent, one might want to purchase a CD with Italian lessons, as well.
Ciao!

REALLY Learning Italian is HARD
Well, I'd say the authors are trying to be GRADUAL and methodical but also comprehensive and thorough. It's a difficult line to walk. I've seen a lot of Italian textbooks, and this one seems to lean towards the "slow introduction" that never really gets fully there. The illustrations, charts and photos are attractive. However, despite the page being fairly busy, it is somewhat scant on information. I guess there is NO PERFECT way to do this almost IMPOSSIBLE task of teaching the Italian language BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY the Italian culture. Perhaps a little more DISTILLATION like "Italian Verbs and Essentials of Grammar" by Graziano...or, "Soluzioni: A Practical Grammar of Contemporary Italian (Second Edition)" by De Rome might help ROUND OUT THIS AMBITIOUS BOOK. In many respects, it is good. In depth, it lacks.
