However, some misconceptions persist. What part do fuels really play in environmental improvement? This publication puts such issues into perspective. Changes in fuel characteristics cannot be made in isolation. An improvement in one direction is often a detriment in another. The concept of vehicle and fuel as a single system must consider global warming concerns, bearing in mind that more intensive refining entails higher energy consumption at the refinery.
