Sie kommentierte das Anwachsen der hiesigen Museumssammlungen, deren Verantwortliche und Stifter sie zumeist personlich kannte, und sie ermunterte die jungen Kunstler, Kuratoren und Galeristen, sich im Hier und Jetzt der Kunstszene zu engagieren. Als Pressesprecherin und Mitglied des Fachgremiums der Art Basel war Maria Netter am internationalen Erfolg und raschen Wachstum der 1970 erstmals veranstalteten Kunstmesse beteiligt.
