Seller's Description:
Near Fine. No Dust Jacket. Book. 4to-over 9¾"-12" tall. A purely academic and intellectual look at the study of art and artists by a non-artist academic. The study of Art was not yet considered an academic discipline in England at the time. Fry was Slade (Foundation) Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Cambridge, 1933-1934. 48pp. The red hardcover (gilt lettering on spine) is in surprisingly good shape, (square corners, tight binding) and is only slightly marred by a few very light, small ink marks and the slightest of rubbing at the spine ends. The corners of the pages have small, l gentle indentations marks as a result of a minor flaw in the manufacturing process. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked. Uncommon, especially in hard cover.
