Gerald McDermott is one of the most awesome illustrators ever. I remember this book (also, Anansi the Spider!) from elementary school- not only because of the story, but the amazing, bold and colorful geometric illustrations! They have stuck with me all my life. I highly recommend this book. It is a classic!

A beautifully illustrated Pueblo Indian folk tale. "Long ago the Lord of the sun sent the spark of Life to Earth"..... A son is born from the sun and he begins his journey/adventure to prove himself worthy of his Father. "The Father and his son rejoiced. "Now you must return to earth, my son, and bring my spirit to the world of men"...
