The planet is called Banshee. The air is unbreathable, the water is poisonous. It is home to the most implacable enemies that humanity, in all its interstellar expansion, has ever encountered. Body armor has been devised for the commando forces that are to be dropped on Banshee--the culmination of ten thousand years of the armorers' craft. A trooper in this armor is a one-man, atomic powered battle fortress. But he will have to fight a nearly endless horde of berserk, hard-shelled monsters--the fighting arm of a species which uses biological technology to design perfect, mindless war minions. Felix is a scout in A-team Two. Highly competent, he is the sole survivor of mission after mission. Yet he is a man consumed by fear and hatred. And he is protected, not only by his custom-fitted body armor, but by an odd being which seems to live within him, a cold killing machine he calls "The Engine."

When I first read this book I was a teenager. A friend recommended this book based on our similar tastes. Of course I was into the armor aspect of the book as I watched Voltron and Robotech. This book reached out and sucked me in from chapter one.
This book is the story of Felix an important individual who wants to forget his past and joins Fleet to fight in the Antwar. Fleet's warriors wear state of the art suits of armor. Self sustaining, nuclear powered engines of destruction. These super warriors are invading the home world of the enemies of mankind, the Ants.
I have made it a habit to re-read this book once a year at least. The older I get different things stand out for me. As a teenager I loved the battle of the book. While still cool the stuff I find really intriguing now is the emotions that Felix feels as well as those who immerse. Oh ya, I forgot to tell about those who immerse.
Well a good chunk of this book leaves actually being in Felix's presence and take on the viewpoint of Jack Crow who finds Felix's suit in an abandoned shuttle. Jack and a couple of very brilliant people figure out a way to view what Felix saw during his drops because some of the information from his recorder had deteriorated to the degree that it was no longer captured by conventional means; hence they immerse.
There is too much to write in one review but my whole-hearted suggestion is to get this book and read it.
